May 2025
Greetings!
Summer approaches, inviting me to reflect.
In June 2015, I had just gotten out of the hospital, with a transplant to help with Multiple Myeloma. I was back home recuperating on a walker. Our school roof in Haiti for our four classrooms, had just been finished. School was scheduled to start in September with 85 students.
I received two important phone calls in July that year. One from my sister, the other from my niece. They asked very important questions and came up with good solutions. I love ideas followed by answers!
My niece asked, “How are you going to pay school teachers?” and “How many teachers, how much pay?” Good questions. She then said she had a plan to put together a child sponsorship program. Wonderful idea! My sister asked on a separate call, “How are you going to provide school lunches?” Good question. She followed with, “It could be provided by family, friends, and the church.” Wonderful idea!
It all came together and the school opened in September 2015 with a basic school building (no windows, electricity or water), teachers, food and cooks. Our original cooks are still there and many of our teachers 10 years later! Praise God for all He’s put together in the 3 years leading up to the school plus the decade we’ve had the school.
As we celebrate 13 years of Haiti’s Children’s Hope we thank God for providing:
- A new house built for an earthquake victim
- The purchase of land
- A Christian educational training center for our community
- Kids Clubs on Saturdays
- Fresh water wells
- A school for local children
- A medical clinic
- A small farm
- Fish ponds
So much to celebrate in 13 years!!! God has helped so many children and families in Haiti. Thank you for your support in this time of political uncertainty, gang activity, food insecurity, and unemployment in many areas of Haiti!
Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor. Proverbs 22:9
Our programs are helping sustain a more normal life for 309 students, teachers, cooks, and administration. During the summer break we hope to continue some construction projects. These will help improve teachers and students’ educational experience.
We are praying for the country to stabilize and allow us to continue to serve our area. Thanks for your support as we anticipate a new future for Haiti and her children.
May God Bless your summer. Enjoy each and every day!
